Welcome to The Yard Project
You are invited to join a grassroots movement to recreate our connection to our local agricultural resources and along the way provide for a healthy real life community which has left our busy virtual social media lives. We believe our lives are enriched when we share food, society and ideas. Our long term goal is to create this space by preserving our agricultural lands, supporting farmers and inspiring a dynamic communal movement. Between 2002 and 2007, 4,080,300 acres of agricultural land were converted to developed uses -- an area nearly the size of Massachusetts.
Every lost farm meant lost farmers and one more step in losing a sense of community. There is urgency here. Today is the day to act. Donate and get involved now.
The comprehensive new study paints a sobering picture of an increasingly fragmented America, where intimate social ties -- once seen as an integral part of daily life and associated with a host of psychological and civic benefits -- are shrinking or nonexistent.
