Farming History:  Jim’s farming heritage dates back to the 1700’s in New England.  The first family farm was in Pelham, NH.  From approx. 1740 to 1929 they had a dairy farm.  In the 1920’s the government instituted regulations requiring milk to be pasteurized.  Since there was no electricity in Pelham at the time, they sold the farm and moved operations down to Dracut, MA.  Sue joined the farming tradition when she married Jim.  After living on the family farm for a few years, they saved enough money to purchase a 24 acre farm of their own in Pelham in 1972.  For the next thirty years they saw farm land around them disappear until they were surrounded by developments.  It wasn’t long before they were squeezed out and sold their farm in 2000 – eventually becoming the grounds for 34 houses.  After searching for a long time to find suitable and affordable farm land, they purchased property in Boscawen in 2001where they have since been returning the property to a working farm.
